Guard Built + Guard Trusted + Rescue Proven.

It’s no secret that lifeguards are built different. Ocean Lifeguards are expected to charge into heavy surf and put their lives on the line every day. But that’s just what the public sees from the beach.

Is there more to it?

Yes! It is the unseen things that make Guards so unique and special. The countless hours of meticulous training, study and physical conditioning and their willingness to put everything on the line for a total stranger (who might not even realize their peril) that makes them so different.

All of which begs the question: “WHY?

The answer comes from a place of invisible personal sacrifice and a lifetime commitment: they do it because its exactly what they are meant to do. And… because they are “built for this.”

Standard Issue Wetsuits Mission is simple: Supply Ocean Rescue Professionals with wetsuits and ocean equipment purpose built to meet their unique needs.

We collaborate with the Professional Ocean Lifeguard Community to build them very best wetsuit available.

Out Suits are crafted from the highest-grade Yamamoto rubber. Standard Issue Wetsuits are lightweight yet buoyant, resistant to abrasion and compression and extremely tough, making them the choice of professionals seeking quality and performance. Designed to endure heavy breaking surf and renowned for superior elasticity, durability and warmth, Standard Issue delivers the quality and fit required by ocean rescue professionals when asked to navigate treacherous waters and come home safe.

Materials

Working alongside professional rescue teams to develop world-class wetsuits has set our standards very high. Standard Issue wetsuits are handmade from the planet’s finest rubber and delivered to our customers with an unrelenting attention to detail. Non-corrosive zippers and seams that are sewn for years of rugged and severe use are just small examples of where our standards have been set.

Seams

All seams are sewn with AAA-grade marine threading and double glued with reef safe adhesive. Heat-sealed tape further reinforces seam joints. Properly sewn and joined seams are a critical component of a well made wetsuit that is crafted to be warm, durable and long lasting.

Knee Pads

Our reinforced knee pads do more than keep out water and resists abrasions. They are designed to maximize durability and extend the life of your wetsuit - even in the most difficult environments. Anatomically positioned to provide superb flexibility, protection and confidence.

Rubber

Standard Issue wetsuits are made from Yamamoto CR Neoprene obtained directly from Osaka, Japan. In addition to producing the world’s best neoprene, the state-of-the-art Yamamoto manufacturing facility is powered entirely by hydro-electricity, recycles 100% of it’s waste water and utilize limestone that is sustainably harvested from Mount Kurohime in Japan’s Niigata prefecture.

Reduced Water Absorption

Standard Issue wetsuits reduce water absorption by over 2x that of our competitors. This reduction in water absorption also greatly reduces the amount of energy needed to maintain body heat, paddle and survive. This reduction in water absorption has the added benefit of drastically speeding up the time it takes your wetsuit to dry.

Sizing

Standard Issue wetsuits are compression fitted. They will feel a little snug at first, but are designed to mold to your body and shape over time.
